Guess What? I finally made it to Lake Bled, Slovenia. It's been on my bucket list for ages, and i couldn't wait to see it. I imagined snowy mountains surrounding the famous island with the church sitting in the cold lake, with gentle mists rising in the warm sunrise.
But sadly, it was a warm January morning with no snow in sight, and it was starting to rain (heavily).
However, i was rewarded for my efforts with an amazing atmospheric view of the church (Cerkev Marijinega Vnebovzetja) in the misty pre dawn light. The light changed within minutes and became almost purple as the sun fought to break through.
Overall a great start to a trip which the previous night looked like it was going to end with me having to plan another trip here in the coming years.

Kolmanskop is located in the Namib Desert. Once a thriving diamond town it is today slowly being reclaimed by the desert.

The elusive Aurora Borealis had showed themselves on four previous nights on the trip but this time was a little special.
